Last night I watched the movie Julie & Julia, an
interwoven true story about both women (or so they say) - Julie Powell and Julia Child. Julia Child
writes the cookbook "Mastering
the Art of French Cooking" and Julie Powell cooks her way through it and then blogs
about it. Curious about the possibilities of blogging as a "creative outlet", I decided to give it a try for myself -
although if anyone is reading this, they will probably recognize that I really
have no idea what I'm doing. C'est la vie!
It's September 11th, 2014 already ... where has the time
gone? Twelve days ago I turned 50 and decided I should start thinking
about my "bucket list" items, so ... here I go!
The first thing I'm going to try is running a marathon - 26.2
very long miles. Not necessarily first on my list, but perhaps the
hardest to do and maybe the most confidence building; and I don't know about
you, but I need that!
Therefore, on July 12th, 2015, I am signed up to do the
Missoula Marathon. Yeah, me!
Some of you may know that in 2012 I did a half-marathon and
it was not a terrific experience (see my post "The Tale of Woe" - soon to
be available if I can find it!); but I am going to give this running thing another go.
To that end, my plan is to blog about my training - and life - experiences
during the next 10 months (or 43 weeks or
300 days - but who's counting!).
Training Timeline: September 14th-July 11th. More
on all that to come ...
